Screen time. The bane of our lives.
As a kid, I remember having my screen time limited for me – firstly by having just three – yes three – TV channels to choose from and secondly the fact that children’s programmes were only on for a couple of hours a day. We didn’t have video player or computer at home and the joys of dial-up internet were still to come.
Children may be surrounded by technology nowadays but kids are still kids – I talked to some experts at The Wildlife Trusts and Friends of the Earth who believe that having a natural connection is vital for our wellbeing.
So, to quote a favourite TV show from the 1980s: “Why don’t you just switch off your television set and go and do something less boring instead?”
