‘Skegness is so bracing’, John Halsall’s classic Great Northern Railway poster declares. I can vouch for that – on a recent visit I went down an outdoor water slide in a hailstorm.
Said slide was a Butlin’s, home of the Redcoats and the local epicentre of family fun. The resort sits next to miles of golden sand which is still brilliant to explore, even when the thermometer is barely tickling 6C.
I know Butlin’s was a hit with my boys, as they didn’t show any sign of game-sickness (a new phenomenon that usually occurs every time they are away from the Xbox). Happy days.
